Why are your membership packages so reasonable?
We strongly believe that an education in Wicca, the Tarot and related magickal subjects is everyone’s right. We did not want to go down the road of charging our students a fortune and felt that a fair pricing system seemed the right thing to do. The money we make goes into maintaining and developing the site as a resource for the Pagan community. We believe that our honesty and fairness will create a successful, respected and thriving On-line magickal community.
Why aren’t all your lessons free?
Maintaining a website and writing materials takes time and costs money. We have to be able to recover our costs and be in a position to effectively develop what we have to offer.
Do you offer Wiccan Initiations and Degrees?
No. We decided a long time ago that we did not want to go down this path. There are a number of sites that offer Wiccan initiations and degree systems -these differ widely in quality and in price. The whole issue of on-line initiations and degrees can be deeply controversial within the Wiccan community. We take the view that we should explain to our students the various options open to them; be it joining an established Wiccan tradition and progressing through initiation and degrees: self initiation and setting up a coven of your own with a degree system: or self initiation and practising as a solitary witch. The whole idea is to give unbiased knowledge and empower students to decide for themselves. We do, however, explain how to self-initiate and on completion of both Wicca courses students will have the skills and knowledge range of most Second Degree witches.
In a number of places on the site you say that other Magicka School courses will be available at a later date. When and what will these be?
Currently we are in the middle of writing a range of other courses. These cover subjects such as Astrology and Magick. These will be added to the site over the coming months. Many of these will be available, at no extra charge, to paying members. Others will be available at a huge discount for registered students.
Why is the site called Magicka School?
In Italian magica means magical. We decided to add a “k” into the spelling to distinguish it from sites offering an education in the art of being a stage magician. We also wanted a name that would reflect the wide extent of the school’s courses.
I have noticed in many places on the site dates are given as C.E. and B.C.E. What do they stand for?
C.E. stands for Common Era and means the same as A.D., Anno Domini or the Year of our Lord. B.C.E. stands for Before Common Era and corresponds to B.C. or Before Christ. We decided to use C.E. and B.C.E. as not everyone feels comfortable using Christianised measurements of time and they make easily understood alternatives.
